Q1 2018 activity off to a flying start

The end of the first quarter is upon us and it has been a flying start to the year in terms of announced deal value. The levels of activity that we have seen so far in 2018 were last seen three years ago, in 2015, and that became a vintage year in terms of global deal activity.

This weekend has seen the announcement of a deal between Germany’s RWE and E.ON power companies that will break up the RWE renewables spin off, Innogy, which listed 25 per cent of its shares on the Frankfurt and Xetra stock exchanges back in October 2016.

Female investor group turns the tables on the Weinstein Company

The irony of the news that a female-led investor group has decided against proceeding with a planned purchase of the Weinstein Company's assets will not be lost on many. The question now is whether the company will be able to find another interested buyer, or whether it will be forced to file for bankruptcy.
